Rugby 7s Has been included in the 71 Samsung Punjab games
Punjab Olympic association is Organizing the 71st
Samsung Punjab games which are being held in Lahore from the 24th to the 26th
of October
this will feature 26 discipline and over 2500
athletes will take part
For the first time in history Rugby will be a part
of these games. Punjab rugby Association will be incharge of the rugby 7s
event . 9 teams resenting all 9 divisions of Punjab will take part in the
event .Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha,
Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur ,saiwal and Dera Ghazi Kha
over the last two weeks each division has held
camps and district tournaments to select the divisional teams.
The strong teams in the tournament will be Lahore
Multan Bawalnager Rawalpindi and gugranwala with all 5 aiming for the gold
Rugby inclusion in the Olympic games has paved the
way for rugby to be included in multi sport events all across the
world earlier this year the National Olympic committee voted for Rugby to be
included in the Pakistan National games .
Punjab Rugby is the current national champions
and has the biggest rugby program in the country with almost 24 districts of
Punjab playing rugby at a competitive level
with the top 10 districts providing the core of
the players for the National games
Punjab rugby association was founded in 2005 under
the auspices of Pakistan rugby union .and in the last 5 years has hosted 1
Asia level tournament with 14 international teams taking part has a full youth
program with annual competition for under 14 and under 17 along with its
annual men's district tournament with 18 teams competing

stop at just all district to have rugby being played in he would like to see
rugby being played in every Zillah zone city and mohalla of Punjab
